First look: Sam Worthington, Xavier Samuel and Myles Pollard in surf drama “Drift”

Based on the true story of “Australia’s legendary surfwear moguls”, the film is set in the 1970′s, and follows two brothers, Jimmy (Samuel) and Andy (Pollard) who, helped by photographer and friend JB (Worthington) bet on everything they have by opening a surf shop … and end up building an empire. From a script by Morgan O’Neill, the film has been directed by O’Neill (“The Factory”) and first time director Ben Nott.

Set in breathtaking locations and inspired by the true story of Australia’s legendary surfwear moguls, the film chronicles the rise of the world’s premiere action sport and the expansion of the laidback surf attitude as a global lifestyle. A story of passion and corruption, friendship and loyalty, deadly addictions and fractured relationship.

Australia, 1970′s. The Kelly brothers, Andy (28) and Jimmy (22), have one great passion: riding big waves. As kids, their mother escaped from Sydney to Margaret River, a sleepy coastal town with some of the world’s most challenging and dangerous waves. For the next 12 years, the boys perfected their surfing skills, always searching for the perfect ride. Free-spirited Jimmy is a gited surfer and innovator but he starts to slip toward a life of crime to help the family out of debt. Andy makes a big decision. Quitting a stable job, he bets on Jimmy’s surf inventions and his own business skills and launches a backyard surf gear business. They rethink board design, craft homemad wetsuits and sell ther merchandise out of their van. After they get mixed up with a local drug dealer, it looks like everything they built up, will be ruined…

Encouraged by their new friends, travelling bohemian surf photographer and filmmaker JB (Sam Worthington) and his gorgeous Hawaiin surfer companion, Lani, who stirs the two brothers’ hearts, they start to seek ways to expand.

Xavier in VMAN

You were probably just going along with your Friday, getting ready for the weekend. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then these photos of five super-hot actors looking dapper in suits for a style feature in the latest issue of VMAN (it hits stands on April 20) came along, guaranteed to add 100 percent more drool to your day. Don’t thank us. We do it because we love you.

Hot Aussie Xavier Samuel, soon to be seen in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” wears a “Miami Vice”-style white blazer over a T-shirt. Sounds cheesy in theory, looks pretty fantastic in practice. But boys should probably know that this is a look not everyone can pull off. You kind of have to be a vampire heartthrob with perfect white teeth. Just saying.

First Look at Xavier as Riley

I have a sneaking suspicion that this post-Halloween, Monday morning Daily TwitPic is going to be familiar to a lot of you. With a fanbase as rabid as “Twilight”‘s, a reveal like this has a way of spreading like wildfire across the community. Still, a Daily TwitPic is a Daily TwitPic, and this one is an early glimpse at “Eclipse.”

One of the new characters introduced in the saga’s third book/movie is Riley, who will be played by Xavier Samuel. He’s a newborn vampire in the thrall of Victoria (previously Rachelle Lefevre, now Bryce Dallas Howard), a pawn the vampiress uses in her plans for exacting revenge on Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) for the death of her mate, James (Cam Gigandet). To celebrate last week’s successful “Eclipse” wrap. director David Slade posted this first look at Samuel-as-Riley “between set ups.”

Remember to check out Brian Warmoth’s Twitter-Wood column every day for an early jump on your Daily TwitPic.
